Introduction
Watching IPTV on a Mac is just as easy as on Windows. You can use VLC for quick playback or IPTV Smarters for a more complete TV experience with EPG and VOD support.
What You Need
- MacBook or iMac running macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or newer
- Your StreamProTV M3U URL or Xtream Codes credentials
- Stable internet connection
Method 1 – VLC Media Player (Quick and Free)
Step 1: Install VLC
- Go to
videolan.org/vlcand download VLC for macOS - Drag VLC to your Applications folder to install
Step 2: Open Your IPTV Playlist
- Open VLC
- Go to File in the menu bar → Open Network
- Paste your M3U URL in the URL field
- Click Open
Your channels will load in the VLC playlist sidebar.
Tip: Press Cmd+Shift+F to go full screen. Press Esc to exit.
Method 2 – IPTV Smarters for Mac
IPTV Smarters for Mac offers a full TV interface with EPG, VOD, and series support.
Step 1: Download IPTV Smarters
- Open the Mac App Store
- Search for IPTV Smarters Pro
- Click Get to download it
Step 2: Add Your Account
- Open IPTV Smarters
- Click Add New User
- Select Xtream Codes API
- Enter:
- Name: StreamProTV
- URL: your server URL
- Username and Password
- Click Add User
Step 3: Start Watching
- Click Live TV to browse channels
- Click VOD to access movies
- Click Series for TV shows
- The EPG tab shows the programme guide
Method 3 – Infuse (Apple TV-style experience)
If you want a beautiful media player experience:
- Download Infuse 7 from the Mac App Store
- Go to Settings → Libraries → Add Source
- Select URL and enter your M3U URL
- Infuse will scan and organise your content
